Terms of Service

Last updated September 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of TaxAhead, including the TaxAhead website, software, tax projections, professional-review services, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is provided by TaxAhead LLC (“TaxAhead,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, purchasing a Service, or accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, available at gettaxahead.com/privacy, which is incorporated into these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You may use the Service only for your own personal tax-planning purposes unless TaxAhead has expressly authorized another use in writing.

2. What TaxAhead Provides

TaxAhead provides tax projections for informational and planning purposes. Based on the information and assumptions you provide, TaxAhead may estimate:

  • Federal individual income taxes;
  • Taxes for supported states;
  • Estimated refunds or balances due;
  • Withholding or estimated-tax payment amounts; and
  • Other calculations specifically identified in the Service.

The supported tax situations, jurisdictions, filing statuses, income types, deductions, credits, and calculations are described on the applicable TaxAhead product or Supported Tax Situations page.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, TaxAhead’s projections are for the 2026 tax year and are designed for full-year residents of the supported states. The Service may not support part-year residents, nonresidents, multistate taxpayers, local taxes, payroll taxes, business entities, foreign income, foreign tax issues, or other circumstances unless expressly identified as supported.

The scope of an annual plan or other subscription is the scope displayed at the time of purchase. An annual plan does not necessarily include projections for every tax year or every tax situation.

3. Estimates Only; No Tax Return Preparation or Filing

TaxAhead provides estimates, not filed tax returns. TaxAhead does not prepare, sign, or file federal, state, or local tax returns unless a separate written agreement expressly states otherwise.

A projection is based on the information you enter, the assumptions displayed by the Service, and the tax laws, rates, forms, and administrative guidance available to TaxAhead when the projection is calculated. The Service may identify the applicable tax-law version or calculation date.

A projection may differ from the amount ultimately determined by the Internal Revenue Service or a state or local tax authority because of:

  • Incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated information;
  • Changes in your facts or circumstances;
  • Tax-law changes after the projection is calculated;
  • Differences in tax-authority interpretations or administrative practices;
  • Information not entered into the Service;
  • Calculation limitations or unsupported tax situations; or
  • Errors in a tax return, payment, or other information submitted by you or someone acting for you.

TaxAhead does not guarantee the amount of your tax, refund, balance due, withholding, estimated-tax payment, credit, deduction, or other tax result.

You are responsible for reviewing each projection, confirming its assumptions, meeting all filing and payment deadlines, and obtaining professional advice when appropriate.

The Service is not an IRS determination, private letter ruling, revenue ruling, legal opinion, or other binding advice from a tax authority. Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client, accountant-client, tax-adviser-client, fiduciary, or other professional relationship with TaxAhead.

4. Information You Provide

You agree to provide complete, accurate, and current information and to promptly update information that becomes inaccurate or incomplete.

You are responsible for reviewing all information entered into the Service and all assumptions used in a projection. TaxAhead is not responsible for a result caused by information that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, outdated, or entered into the wrong field.

You must not enter information belonging to another person unless you are legally authorized to do so and have provided all notices and obtained all consents required by applicable law.

The Service is not intended for emergency tax matters, deadlines requiring immediate action, or situations where a failure to act immediately could result in material loss. You should consult an appropriately qualified tax professional for those matters.

5. Accounts and Account Security

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate registration information and to keep your login credentials confidential.

You are responsible for activity occurring under your account, except to the extent caused by TaxAhead’s failure to use reasonable security measures. You must notify us promptly at support@gettaxahead.com if you believe that your account or credentials have been accessed or used without authorization.

You may not share your account, allow another person to use your credentials, or create an account using another person’s identity.

6. Professional Review

TaxAhead offers an optional, paid Professional Review. The price is displayed before you pay.

Professional Reviews are carried out by an experienced tax professional. The professional assigned to your review is identified to you when the review begins.

A Professional Review is limited in scope. It covers:

  • A review of the information you entered into TaxAhead and the assumptions used in your projection;
  • Whether your projection appears reasonable, and any potential issues in it; and
  • Tax-planning opportunities related to your projection.

A Professional Review does not include preparing, signing, or filing a tax return; representation in an audit or examination; or legal advice.

If you live in a state that TaxAhead does not calculate, a tax professional prepares the state portion of your projection as part of your purchase, at no additional charge. That is separate from the paid Professional Review described above.

A Professional Review does not relieve you of responsibility for providing accurate information, reviewing your tax filings, or making timely tax payments.

7. Fees and Payment

Prices, billing frequency, included features, applicable taxes, and other charges will be displayed before you complete a purchase. Prices are stated in U.S. dollars unless otherwise indicated.

A one-time projection purchase is a single charge that unlocks the applicable projection or features identified at checkout. Unless required by law or otherwise stated at checkout, one-time purchases are nonrefundable after the applicable projection or paid features have been made available.

If you purchase a professional review, that service may be subject to separate pricing and refund terms displayed before purchase.

Payments are processed by Stripe or another payment processor identified at checkout. TaxAhead does not receive or store your complete payment-card number. However, TaxAhead and its payment processors may receive payment-related information, such as transaction records, billing identifiers, payment status, and limited card information, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You authorize TaxAhead and its payment processor to charge your selected payment method for authorized purchases, renewals, applicable taxes, and other charges disclosed at checkout.

8. Annual Plans and Automatic Renewal

An annual plan is billed in advance for the annual period displayed at checkout and automatically renews for successive annual periods unless canceled before the renewal date.

Before purchase, the checkout process will identify the initial price, billing period, renewal terms, and cancellation method. The renewal price will be the then-current price for the plan unless otherwise stated. We will provide any renewal or price-change notice required by applicable law and may provide additional notice by email or through your account.

You may cancel an annual plan through your account settings or by contacting support@gettaxahead.com. Cancellation stops future renewals but generally does not terminate access before the end of the period already paid for.

Unless required by law or otherwise stated at checkout, canceling an annual plan does not result in a prorated refund. If you cancel after a renewal charge, access generally continues through the renewed period.

If a payment fails, we may retry the payment, suspend access to paid features, or cancel the plan. You remain responsible for valid charges incurred before cancellation.

If you believe a charge was made in error, contact support@gettaxahead.com promptly with the relevant account and transaction information. We will investigate and correct confirmed billing errors.

9. Service Communications and Marketing

We may send service-related communications, including account notices, email-verification messages, password-reset messages, receipts, billing notices, security alerts, and important notices about the Service.

Quarterly estimated-payment reminders are included with an annual plan and are turned on by default. You may turn them off through your account settings or by contacting support@gettaxahead.com. Turning off reminders does not affect your account, subscription, or other service communications.

We may send optional marketing communications only where permitted by applicable law and, where required, with your consent. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time through your account settings or by using the unsubscribe link in a marketing message. Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not stop service-related communications.

10. Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • Use the Service for an unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or unauthorized purpose;
  • Enter information that you are not authorized to use;
  • Use the Service to provide tax, accounting, legal, or financial services to others without our written permission;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, damage, or overburden the Service;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or networks;
  • Circumvent access controls, usage limits, or security measures;
  • Scrape, crawl, copy, frame, mirror, or systematically extract the Service or its content;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover the source code of the Service, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law;
  • Upload malware, malicious code, or other harmful material;
  • Use automated means to create accounts or access the Service without authorization;
  • Resell, sublicense, lease, or transfer access to the Service; or
  • Use the Service to develop or provide a competing product or service.

11. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, calculations, interfaces, trademarks, and other content, is owned by TaxAhead or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these Terms, TaxAhead grants you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal tax-planning purposes.

Except for information you provide to TaxAhead, TaxAhead retains all rights in the Service. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, publish, or create derivative works from the Service unless expressly authorized by TaxAhead or permitted by law.

You retain rights in information you submit to the Service. You grant TaxAhead the rights reasonably necessary to host, process, analyze, secure, and provide the Service, communicate with you, prevent fraud, comply with law, and perform the functions described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Privacy and Security

TaxAhead’s collection, use, disclosure, retention, and protection of personal information are described in the Privacy Policy available at gettaxahead.com/privacy.

Tax information may include sensitive financial and personal information. Although TaxAhead uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, no system or transmission method is completely secure. You acknowledge that TaxAhead cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed through a security incident.

TaxAhead may use service providers and subprocessors to operate the Service, process payments, provide customer support, maintain security, and perform other business functions. Information may be shared with a professional reviewer when necessary to provide a professional-review service and as described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Availability and Changes to the Service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, including features, supported tax situations, jurisdictions, calculations, and integrations. We may also impose reasonable limits on use.

We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. The Service may be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, outages, third-party services, internet or telecommunications failures, security events, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

We may update the tax rules, rates, forms, assumptions, and calculations used by the Service. A projection is based on the version of the Service available when it was calculated unless we expressly state otherwise.

14. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TAXAHEAD DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

TAXAHEAD DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL PRODUCE A PARTICULAR TAX RESULT OR THAT A TAX AUTHORITY WILL ACCEPT, AGREE WITH, OR REACH THE SAME RESULT AS A PROJECTION.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a warranty, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaxAhead will not be liable for taxes, interest, penalties, or other amounts resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misunderstood information supplied by you; your failure to review a projection; your failure to file or pay on time; changes in your circumstances; changes in tax law; or your use of a projection in preparing, filing, or paying taxes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaxAhead will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaxAhead’s total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount you paid to TaxAhead for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • $100.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or other nonwaivable legal rights.

16. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless TaxAhead and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to:

  • Your violation of these Terms;
  • Your unlawful or unauthorized use of the Service;
  • Information you submit that infringes another person’s rights or violates applicable law; or
  • Your fraud, willful misconduct, or violation of another person’s rights.

This provision does not require indemnification for a claim caused by TaxAhead’s own fraud, willful misconduct, or other conduct for which indemnification cannot lawfully be required.

17. Suspension and Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Service if:

  • You violate these Terms;
  • Your use creates a security, legal, or operational risk;
  • We reasonably suspect fraud or unauthorized activity;
  • Payment is overdue or reversed; or
  • We discontinue the applicable Service.

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide notice before suspension or termination. We may act without prior notice when necessary to protect the Service, users, or others, or to comply with law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including provisions concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution, and general terms—will survive.

We may retain or delete account information and saved projections in accordance with our Privacy Policy and legal obligations. You are responsible for maintaining your own records of information and projections you may need.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

For a material change, we will provide additional notice when required by law or when reasonably appropriate, such as by email or through the Service. Unless a different effective date is stated, updated Terms become effective when posted.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to an update, you must stop using the Service and cancel any applicable recurring plan.

19. Electronic Communications

You agree to receive communications electronically, including account notices, payment confirmations, renewal notices, security alerts, service announcements, and changes to these Terms.

You must maintain a current email address in your account. Electronic notices sent to the address associated with your account will be considered received when sent, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

20. Governing Law and Disputes

Before bringing a formal legal claim, you agree to contact TaxAhead at support@gettaxahead.com and provide a written description of the dispute. You and TaxAhead will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service will be governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Unless applicable law requires otherwise, any court proceeding relating to these Terms or the Service must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wayne County, Michigan, and you consent to the jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

21. General Terms

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented at the time of purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and TaxAhead concerning the Service.

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect, and the invalid provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law.

TaxAhead’s failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of its right to enforce that provision later.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without TaxAhead’s prior written consent. TaxAhead may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction.

These Terms do not create an agency, partnership, joint venture, employment, fiduciary, or franchise relationship between you and TaxAhead.

No person other than you and TaxAhead is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms, except as expressly stated.
